somaCURA TRANSFER CENTER Open Transfer Center

Doctor orientation · 10-minute read

From Epic chart
to transfer note—
without changing how you take the call.

SomaCura calls your cellphone, connects you to Transfer Logistics, and builds the patient story while you speak. You remain the physician, the decision-maker, and the final reviewer.

Start the quick start

The path

Four movements. One transfer.

01

Access

Get to a clean transfer workspace.

Nothing special to install. Use a modern browser on your computer or iPad.

First visit

Create your free doctor account

  1. Go to somacura.icu.
  2. Select Create Account.
  3. Enter your name, email, username, and password. Choose Doctor.
  4. After sign-in, choose Transfer Center in the top menu.
Transfer Center landing page with the New Transfer button visible
Actual screen Select + New Transfer to open a new workspace.
02

Prepare

Give the call a clinical starting point.

Paste broadly. The chart material grounds what the live conversation adds.

Chart materials

Copy and paste the useful source from Epic.

Use the material you would want beside you during the transfer. It can be rough, duplicated, or drawn from several notes—the goal is useful source, not polished prose.

  • Referral, ED, hospitalist, and consultant notes
  • Current vitals and oxygen / ventilator / pressor support
  • Relevant labs and trends
  • Imaging and procedure results
  • Medications, allergies, and microbiology
  • Code status and pending studies
  • The transfer question and local capability limit

Your phone

Enter the cellphone you will answer.

Leave +1 in place and enter your ten-digit US cellphone number. SomaCura remembers it for your next transfer.

Do enter the doctor’s cellphone.

Don’t enter Transfer Logistics or the referring facility.

03

The live call

Answer your phone. Take the call normally.

SomaCura handles the bridge and turns the conversation into a live clinical workspace.

1 Click

Call Dispatch

2 Your cellphone rings

Answer it.

3 Wait on the line

Brief silence is normal.

4 Logistics joins

The configured menu selection is sent automatically.

Actual live surface Synthetic patient and transcript. The controls shown are the controls you will use.
A

Live transcript

The conversation as captured. Watch it to notice names, doses, values, and details that need correction.

B

Patient story

The clinical arc developing from chart source and conversation: why transfer, severity, treatment, response, and unresolved work.

C

Bedside signals

High-value facts and missing information surface while you speak. Use them as prompts, not as independent clinical truth.

D

Call agenda

A compact reminder of what still matters before a safe transfer decision and handoff.

During the call

Let the workspace support the conversation—not drive it.

  • Take the transfer call the way you normally would.
  • Use Correct when an important captured fact is wrong.
  • If the system flags an audio gap, repeat the missed clinical detail after connection returns.
  • On a narrow screen, switch between Conversation and Patient arc.
04

Finish deliberately

Close the call. Complete the record.

The phone call, browser recording, generated note, and Epic chart are separate states.

End Call

Hangs up the phone bridge.

Use this when the transfer conversation is finished.

Stop recording

Stops browser audio capture.

Use this if recording remains active or you need to stop local capture. It does not replace ending the phone call.

1

End Call

Finish the phone bridge.

2

Complete the decision

Confirm disposition and, if accepted, the destination unit.

3

Generate Transfer Note

Allow the final patient story to become draft documentation.

4

Proofread → Copy → Epic

Verify every material fact before pasting into the correct encounter.

Actual note drawer Generated · not saved is a draft state, not an Epic filing confirmation.

The physician review

Before the note enters Epic

Generated documentation is a draft. Your review is the final clinical safety layer.

  • Correct patient and Epic encounter
  • Referring facility and clinician
  • Diagnosis, acuity, and transfer reason
  • Oxygen, ventilator, pressor, and medication doses
  • Labs, imaging, procedures, and pending work
  • Specialist and pre-transport recommendations
  • Disposition, destination unit, and transport plan
  • Code status, uncertainty, and unresolved risks

Keep moving

Fast troubleshooting.

Most problems are a connection state, an unfinished required field, or a closed panel.

My phone number is rejected.

Leave +1 present and enter all ten US digits. Use the physician’s cellphone—the phone you will answer.

My phone has not rung yet.

Confirm the number, cellular reception, and that the page still shows the connecting state. Do not repeatedly click Call Dispatch and create duplicate attempts.

I answered and hear silence.

Wait on the line. Brief silence is expected while SomaCura calls Transfer Logistics and sends the configured menu selection.

The page reports an audio gap.

After the connection recovers, repeat any name, value, dose, decision, or other clinical fact spoken during the gap.

The call ended but REC is still visible.

Use Stop recording to end browser audio capture. End Call controls the phone bridge; the two controls are intentionally separate.

Generate Transfer Note is blocked.

Finish an active call, confirm there is enough clinical content, and complete the decision. An accepted transfer also requires its destination unit.

I closed the generated note.

Use the persistent Note tab to reopen the note drawer.

The transcript captured something incorrectly.

Use Correct for important facts. Explicit physician corrections take priority over the earlier capture.
